WHO IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND TRAFFIC SURVIVAL SCHOOL?

Drivers who have been notified by the Motor Vehicle Division that they must attend Arizona Traffic Survival School include those who have:
  • Convictions causing the accumulation of at least 8 points, but not more than 12 points, within a 120month period, with no Traffic Survival School completed in the previous 24 months.

  • A conviction of aggressive driving, moving violation resulting in an accident causing serious physical injury, or moving violation resulting in an accident causing death.

  • The first moving violation of a driver under 18 years old.

  • A conviction for red-light running.

  • Received a red-light violation and paid the ticket (but did not attend) Defensive Driving School

  • Received a violation under the age of 18 and paid the ticket (but did not attend) Defensive Driving School

  • Have accumulated 8-12 points on their driver's license

  • Received a ticket out-of-state and that state requires Traffic Survival School



Timing

You will have 60 days to take the class after the MVD notifies you of the requirement or your driver's license may be suspended. The eight-hour traffic survival school class is required for those who accumulate 8 or more points for moving violations during any 12-month period.
